Psalm 51:16-17 tells us the following: “For You will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; You will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” The brokenness that is described in this scripture is a picture of Jesus Christ and His Passion journey, from the Garden of Gethsemane to His blood drenched death on the cross. This is a picture of His crushing, of His brokenness that we might benefit.
Scripture plainly reveals that the one true living God desires that we would be successful and prosper, first spiritually and then in every other way. 3John 1:2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things, that you may prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers.” There is no better way to reflect our victory in Christ than to operate in divine brokenness – in the holiness of Jesus Christ.
The revelation of our victory in Christ is never seen clearer than when we live our life with the attitude of Christ’s brokenness. Godly inspired sacrifice is not insignificant, but it must be born from a place of divine brokenness. This brokenness is born from our understanding of the power of the cross of Jesus Christ and the corresponding obligation we have to Christ for the impossible debt that we owe.
Houses of Worship International Christian Partnership comes to continually turn our eyes to the cross of Jesus Christ. For it is as we survey the cross, as we consider the Wonderful Jesus, that divine brokenness is ushered into our spirit. It is from this place of divine brokenness that we most desire the holy things of God. It is from here that we are launched into a pursuit for God and a surrender to God The Holy Spirit who is released to work in us to live the holy life. We are released to live the life that is too often too rare – the life that most honors God and releases the supernatural power of God to work in us and through us, that we might live the life that Christ died on the cross for us to live.
We encourage you to press in, to trust in The LORD, to delight yourself in Him, and to commit your way to become His way. Be encouraged to walk as Christ has walked, to surrender to God The Holy Spirit; “ Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” – 1Peter 1:16.
